DNA's (Did not Attend) are a serious problem for the NHS. In March 75 patients DNA appointments at Holbrook Surgery. PLEASE, PLEASE If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
Just to remind patients you do not always have to see a doctor for minor illnesses please check our self help pages. Many illnesses are self limiting or medication/advice can obtained at your local pharmacy and a visit to the doctor is unnecessary.
Dr Jonathan Heatley
Unfortunately Dr Heatley has been diagnosed with a Throat Cancer so will not be at the surgery for the next few months. He is embarking on a radical treatment regime, with a good prospect of a cure and we all wish him well. Patients will be looked after by the other GPs so there will be no loss of continuity of care.
This comes in light of Dr Anisha Patel being given the 'all clear' from her recent bowel cancer. She will be looking at a phased return to work in the summer.
REMINDER MANAGED REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS
We have noticed a few patients are signing up to online pharmacies that offer to manage prescriptions, we do not accept these. To order your prescriptions use the NHS app, Online services or this website. You can use these online pharmacies as your nominated pharmacy but not to request anything on your behalf. See old news for CCG directive.

NEW SERVICE - FIRST CONTACT PHYSIO PRACTITIONERS
We now have a new service at our practice where we have a specialist NHS physiotherapist working here to see patients with bone, joint, muscle and spine pains INSTEAD of the GP. They have longer appointments to assess and investigate your condition and to give advice and exercises. They are able to request investigations and refer you on if necessary. You should book in to see them even if you do not think you need physiotherapy treatment. When you speak to the receptionist please ask to be booked in with our specialist Physiotherapist

Change in opting out of national electronic data sharing
If you have ever opted out of sharing your record for research or planning purposes there has been a recent change. The surgery is no-longer able to do it on your behalf.
Visit www.nhs.uk/your-nhs-data-matters to find out how to continue your opt out or call 0300 3035678 for more details.
As a result of damage in the surgery carpark we have taken the decision to install CCTV. Cameras will cover the carpark, front and back entrances.
The NHS are encouraging patients to self-care where possible with medicines brought over the counter at a pharmacy. This of course freeing up GP appointments. Please see our appointments tab for a list of self help medications and listen to the following podcast.
